A Reputation was created over three years of exploring the fascinating histories and rumours surrounding 14th century Florentine noble Catherine de’ Medici. De’ Medici became Queen of France and had a long political reign shrouded in mystery and no small amount of terror. The scent features a renaissance bouquet of roses and jasmines, two Queens of the night battling each other for power, beauty and majesty. Their duel presides over an animalic base of civet and musks characteristic of the perfumery of de’ Medici’s royal court. I have bathed this magnificence in Iris, Neroli and sparkly citruses and cloaked them in leather to reflect the ritualized layering of hand-made clothing and tapestries of De’ Medici’s fashionable court.
